Description
If you look at this abstract pattern and think "fish" then I will have accomplished what I set out to do. In particular I wanted this little school of fish to resemble Neon Tetras.
When I was a preteen my Dad came home one day with a giant fish tank and we went to the fish store to stock it with the prettiest fish I had ever seen. One of my favorite of those fish were the tiny, effervescent "Neon Tetra". They would stay in tight groups and dart in and out and around the aquatic plants and rocks we had carefully placed in the tank.
I cannot tell you the hours I would spend gazing at those little fellows as I learned from experience as to why they would stay in large groups. As individuals they were vulnerable to the larger Angel Fish but as a large group they could not only defend themselves better but they could actually be formidable themselves with the razor sharp fins.
We named them "The Keystone Cops" after the famous cartoon of the times as they not only moved and darted in perfect unison to each other but with their own style they policed the tank and kept the bad guys at bay. Yes, there were a few casualties at times and their life cycle was short to begin with but every few weeks we would buy more to bring their numbers back up.
I would recommend anyone to get a fish tank for their preteens. It not only teaches the fundamentals of living in a society but it also teaches responsibility because in order for that society in a tank to survive we had to keep that tank clean and those fish fed. These delicate lives were dependent on us for that.
