My blue Jays eat well all year round, as do all the backyard birds, but in the winter they all get a little extra pampering.
A few years ago I had the husband build me a platform feeder with a roof so they can all eat no matter if the snow flies or the rain pours. It works well most of the time but there are those moments when the jays think this is their private hoard and no one else's. Then watch the fighting begin.
