Sadly this was taken the year before “The Maid Of The Mist” made her final launch from the Canadian side of the falls. That was 2013. The Niagara Parks didn’t renew their 30 or 40 year old contract. They signed on another organization from California (I believe) calls “Hornblower”. We locals were all devastated to learn of this as it was like loosing a family member. It seems Hornblower outbid them.
So they packed up their boats and took them across the river to the American side where they had a couple of boats already. Now when we see “The Maid Of The Mist” she isn’t flying the Canadian flag anymore. I suppose we should be thankful we can see the boats at all.
Now I am not saying Hornblower is a bad operation. I have never been on one of their boats and they do look sleek. Maybe this year we will take a tourist day and see for ourselves.
