I know I say it about all the garden flowers but Lupine is also a favorite of mine too. I tried for many years without luck to plant these in my garden yet they never took. A couple of years ago I got a pleasant surprise. Not only did they grow back but they were strong and beautiful so now I can safely say they are a garden staple.

I think the problem might hav e been the clay soil which is so typical of the area but I bring in triple mix each year and mix it into the ground and each year the soil gets more and more favorable with less clay pushing up. I think that has made all the difference in this particular plant.

Whatever the reason is you can bet I am one happy gardener when these beauties blossom.
