Description
This is a wall plaque that I proudly hang on my front door every Canada Day (well actually all year round). True North Strong & Free comes from a verse in Canada's National Anthem. These words mean a whole lot to us old school Canadians.
Of course when we were young and learning this song the flag was not the Maple Leaf. We flew the British Union Jack above our country's ensign and we were proud to be in the commonwealth. Well all that changed in 1965 when we adopted our own flag. It took years for many to accept the maple leaf. I even remember my mother calling the new flag a dish rag.
Now, after a few decades of getting used to it, we barely remember the old flag. I would even say that the maple leaf now flares a little pride in all our hearts.
The song may have been butchered throughout the years to please the politically correct younger set but you will recognize us old Canadians who stand with pride and sing the original version of our song at events run around the country for we are what remains of the TRUE NORTH, STRONG AND FREE.
Here I have remove my front door and created a rustic and grunged up background for the plague. I hope you will enjoy my little piece of National Pride and want to display it with pride in your home too.
