Description
On a visit to my hometown we drove on a country road I spent my youthful years walking down day after day. At the end of the road was our special swimming hole.
You can imagine my surprise when we came across this strangely familiar sight. I did a double take and said to my husband "I would have remembered walking by this house if it were here then" Well the house looked so old that it would have been there much longer than my timeline. Both the house and hotel below it , although looked familiar, was definitely out of place in my memories.
Then my husband noticed the sign on the road side motel "Bates Motel" . That's where I remembered the house! "Phycho!" It was finally starting to come together but I had so many unanswered questions. If they filmed the movie there it would have been a decade before my time of wandering the countryside so I would have known it was there and I was sure that the house and hotel were on a movie lot somewhere in California. Not in British Columbia Canada.
So we snapped a few pictures and heeded the Do Not Enter signs (which we would never have obeyed in our rebellious youth) and went back home to do some online homework. Turns out this is where they built the mansion and hotel to film the TV show "Bates Motel".
I understand they demolished both buildings after the series was finished filming. Sadly it will be lost in this generation's timeline now.
